Warning: Security Hole in Firefox 3.5
Published July 15, 2009
Firefox 3.5 is just out that this is a security hole in our favorite browser. The vulnerability is currently not corrected, yet it is known to Mozilla last week but it became much more serious since the beginning of the week, in fact an exploit code was released to the public.
You can see this feat in milw0rm .
An information bulletin on the flaw was released today at the CERT (Centre of Expertise Governmental Response and Treatment of computer attacks), you will find details of the fault.
To protect yourself while waiting for a patch (later Firefox 3.5.1, probably coming soon), Mozilla recommends disabling the JIT in the JavaScript engine. To do this, enter about: config into your address bar and enter jit in the filter search. You will have the entry javascript.options.jit.content, just set it to false by double-clicking it. This action will make JavaScript performance on a par with those of Firefox 3.0, it suffices, when fix will be available, will provide input to true.
